Chelsea vs Leeds United Preview. Can the Blues bounce back following Sunday’s cup final defeat?

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are looking to bounce back following Sunday’s defeat to a young Liverpool side in the Carabao Cup final, as they host Leeds United in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Chelsea missed out on a huge opportunity to win some silverware due to a vital header from Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk in the 118th minute, a heartbreaking defeat for Pochettino, admitting after the game that he was close to tears.

In order to make it to the fifth round, both teams required a fourth-round replay with the hosts defeating Aston Villa 3-1 at Stamford Bridge after their initial goalless draw, meanwhile, Leeds won 4-1 away to Plymouth Argyle following their initial 1-1 draw at home.

The Blues have failed to win their last two games at Stamford Bridge and will look to end that streak as they face the in-form Leeds team who have won 6 in a row, as well as being undefeated in their last twelve. The Yorkshire giants will look to Wilfried Gnonto to continue his fine form. The Italian international who has featured 4 times in Italy’s Euro Qualifiers campaign has scored five goals in his last six appearances for the whites, including goals in his last four away appearances.

Chelsea, who are currently sitting 11th in the Premier League, will be looking to get another trip to Wembley and have one last bid at gaining silverware in what has been a hugely underwhelming season for them.
